MIRON BUZDUGA, ILIE BUTNARIU, RADU BUZDUGA, CRISTIAN DOBRESCU, NICOLAE CONSTANTIN RESEARCH ON OBTAINING A CHEMICAL BINDER USED TO BIND REFRACTORY MASSES The paper proposes to study a chemical binder used in the manufacture of refractory products and the manufacturing process of this binder. The chemical binder comprises a mixture containing weight percentages of 27.8% HCl (32%), with a content of maximum 0.005- 0.05% Fe and SO2, and density of 1.24 g/cm3; 5.2% atomized aluminum powder having a grain size of less than 98% residue on the sieve of 0.3 mm and a density of 1 g/cm3 and 67% H2O <1> This binder provides a good bonding of refractory masses and thus avoids the use of other binders, especially refractory clays. Also, the use of this binder diminishes pore diffusion of bonded components. Physical characteristics after firing the raw products are improved and the drying time is shortened significantly. The aim of the work is to study the chemical binder used in bonding refractory masses, which gives them superior characteristics by eliminating entirely the refractory clays from the composition.
