The presented work, conducted at the Legal Medicine Service of Galati aims to expound the role of pharmaco-toxicological interactions between benzodiazepines and other psychoactive substances in drug related deaths. A retrospective analysis of 13 cases of fatal substances overdose was done. Parent drugs and metabolites detection and quantification in postmortem specimens were performed by HPLC-DAD, as part of a full forensic autopsy. The substance interactions were investigated and interpreted in the context of the available medical history. The study results emphases the acute toxicity of a given drug /alcohol combination.
