CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY AND CONTROL OF CORROSION DEGRADATION OF UNDERGRAOUND POWER CABLES. 1. STUDY OF CORROSION STATUS OF SOME UNDERGRAOUND POWER LINES
The paper presents the degradation stage by corrosion of the metallic screen jacket of the power cables afferent to some underground power lines (LES), that are situated in different types of soils, with and without d.c. stray currents. Using electrochemical measurements, the screen / soil potentials (Ecor), have been determined. By electric measurements, the dielectric rigidity screen / soil and hot wire / screen, as well as the electrical continuity of the screen have been also determined. There was also performed the visual analyses of defected cables, in the area where those faults were located. As a result, the risk of electrical faults is higher at those cables where the metallic screen jacket has an advanced corrosion.
