ANILINE ANODIC OXIDATION AND AUTOCATALYTIC POLYMERUZATION ON DIFFERENT ELECTRODES
The possibility of aniline anodic oxidation and autocatalytic polymerization on different electrodes (Pt, graphite, RuO2, Co3O4) with the formation of aniline black (emeraldine) was investigated. For all these electrodes, the aniline oxidation occurs in two steps. The process mechanism involves electrochemical and chemical steps. The reaction order () confirms the radicalic known mechanism. The possibility of aniline autocatalytic polymerization at anodic overpotentials more positive than + 700 mV/SCE, in acid solutions (pH < 3.5) and aniline concentrations > 0.2 M is proved also.
