, Comparative Study of Serum Proteins Analysis by Aragose Gel Electrophoresis
and Paper Electrophoresis


Abstract:

The present study has been performed on biological samples constituted by human blood serum, that were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis and paper electrophoresis for the separation and quantification of serum proteins. By using the values of concentrations obtained by both electrophoretic techniques, for each proteic fractions the degree of correlation has been determined by using a linear regression procedure. Good correlations for albumin (r=0.974), a2 - globulins (r=0.955), and g - globulins (r=0.987), and moderate correlations for a1 - globulins (r=0.872) and b - globulins (r=0.761) were obtained. The migration rates, electrophoretic mobilities and relative mobilities computed on the basis of migration distances of the proteic fractions on both migration media together with the characteristic physical-chemical properties of these media allowed the explanation of these results.
