About Cookies


1. What is a Cookies?



A cookie is a piece of information in the form of a very small text file that is placed on your computer or device by websites you visit. A Cookie stores a small amount of data on your Computer about your visit to the Site.

Cookies are therefore unique to your browser and contains anonymised information about how you use the websites and applications.

A cookie help your browser navigate a website, although the cookies cannot collect any information stored on your computer or device or in your files. A cookie make the interaction between users and web sites faster and easier, more convenient, more efficient and user-friendly for you.

A cookie is a sort of an internet user's identification card, which tell a web site when the user has returned.

Cookies are not computer programs, they can't be executed as code, they cannot be used to disseminate viruses, they cannot access and read the hard drive.

Modern versions of browsers allow users to set their own limitations to the number of cookies saved on their hard drives.


2. Types of cookies

2.1. Session or transient cookies


These are temporary cookies that are stored in the computer's memory only during a user's browsing session and are automatically deleted from the user's computer when the browser is closed.

This type of cookie is usually placed as soon as the user arrive on the site.

A session cookie is a session ID, randomly generated like a string of numbers and letters, used to identify the user uniquely and allowing the user to move from page to page without having to log-in repeatedly.

Session cookies are never written on the user's computer and they do not collect any information from the user's computer.

Session cookies expire at the end of the user's browser session and can also become no longer accessible after the session has been inactive for a specified length of time.


2.2 Permanent, persistent, or stored cookies

This type of cookie is stored on the user's computer and are not deleted when the browser is closed. These cookies remain on the user's computer for much longer, depending on the lifetime of the specific cookie.

Permanent cookies can retain user preferences for a particular web site, allowing those preferences to be used in future browsing sessions.

The user can delete or disable this type of cookie at any time by adjusting the privacy settings on the browser.


Manage Cookies

Modern versions of browsers allow users to set their own limitations to the number of cookies saved on their hard drives. Users can set their browsers to accept or reject all, or certain, cookies or to prompt them each time a cookie is offered.

Also, it is possible to disable cookies by modifying the settings in the browser.
