ORCID
ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) - is a nonproprietary persistent alphanumeric code to uniquely identify scientific and other academic authors and contributors. ORCID iD provides a persistent unique identity for researchers, similar to that created for content-related entities on digital networks by digital object identifiers (DOIs).

This is an ID that uniquely identify an author and attaches it all his research work - no more confusion because another researcher has the same or a similar name. Whenever and wherever the author publish — his ORCID iD remains the same (even when the author change his name). Through integrations with other databases and services like Researcher ID, Scopus, LinkedIn, Crossref, and others ORCID automatically centralizes all of the scholarly contributions.

Getting an ORCID iD is free and easy to do through the ORCID registration page: ORCID - Register
