The Decrease of Thermal Conductivity of an Oil Reservoir
Exploited by the Underground Combustion


Abstract:

Exploitation by underground combustion results in physical and chemical modifications of the oil reservoir, which include changes in the thermal conductivity. This work presents results of experimental studies on the estimation of the thermal conductivity under the following conditions: - samples composed of rock and fluids, and burnt in laboratory; - samples taken from the well equipment, from areas affected by underground combustion during maintenance works on the well. The goal of this study is to compare the experimental results with those obtained by analysis, in order to derive the appropriate theoretical methods to compute this thermal property.
