Obtaining and Separation of 18F from H218O;
Obtaining of TEP Images


Abstract:

The nuclear reaction 18O (d, 2n) 18F and the separation of 18F from the irradiated samples have been studied. For this reaction liquid H218O samples were irradiated with deuterons beam in the stainless steel cells cooled with water. The formed positron emiting 18F was separated from H218O by chromatografic method. The yields of 18F isotop formed in nuclear reaction depend on the concentration of 18O in water. The radionuclidic purity of 18F determined by gamma spectrometry was 100 %. The 18F sample obtained in this study was used for positron tomography in the case of phantoms, the images obtained for both brain and lever were of high clarity.
