, Studies Regarding in situ Bioremediation Using Bacterian Inocul
for Polluted Soils with Petroleum Products


Abstract:

The paper presents results of testing in-situ bioremediation using bacterian inocul for a 500 m2 experimental surface of a polluted soil with oil products. We have demonstrated that a commercial concentrate containing a mixture of bacteria is useful for converting both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as various phenolic compounds, chlorinated solvents, oils and fats. The steps of pretreatment and measurements of soil temperature, pH, humidity and total petroleum hydrocarbons during bioremediation were described. IR spectroscopy and thermal analysis (differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetry) were used as investigation techniques. After an experimental period of 27 days, on the basis of initial and final concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons, a 30-45% efficiency of the soil bioremediation was estimated.
