Dyes of 4,4-Diaminobenzanilide III. Obtaining, Characterization and Toxicity Evaluation of Some New
Symmetrical Disazo Dyes


Abstract:

The synthesis of two new disazo dyes with symmetrical structure containing 4,4’-diaminobenzanilide as middle component is presented. 2-hydroxy-7-naphthalenesulphonic acid, and 2- hydroxy-3, 6-naphthalenedisulphonic acid were used as coupling components. The dyes were analyzed by thin layer chromatography (TLC), electronic spectra (VIS) and their structure was confirmed by mass spectroscopy (FABS). The toxicity of the synthesized dyes and of their precursors was evaluated by biological tests, using the process of metamorphosis in the marine Hydrozoon Hydractinia echinata. The concentration (termed by MRC50) at which the synthesized dyes (and their precursors) antagonize methamorphosis induction was determined. Keywords: disazodyes, 4,4’diaminobenzalinide, toxicity
