Determination of Dioxine/furans by Gas Chromatography
Coupled with Mass Spectrometry

Abstract:

The present paper aims to determine the dioxine concentration in gaseous emissions sampled from incinerator and also the contamination level of a soil surface with dioxine, by using for this the extraction method of the molecular ion m/z = 322 from standard chromatogram of dioxine 2,3,7,8- tetrachlorodibenzo-p dioxine. The method represents the process of dioxine chromatogram labeled with 13C12 and its mass spectrum data that do not exist in spectral library. A comparison of mass spectra of the standard dioxine sample and the analyzed sample has been performed based on the extraction method. This method provides an optimal efficiency in the identification and determination of dioxine concentration in traces, as it has been experimentally demonstrated in the sample taken in Dobrogea aria from an incinerator, having a dioxine concentration below 1 ng/m3.
