Synthesis, Characterization and
Colour Study Inside the CIELAB Colour Space of Some Derivatives Symmetric Disazo Dyes of
4,4’- Diaminostilbene-2,2’-Disulfonic Acid

Abstract:

The synthesis of two disazo dyes with symmetrical structure derived from 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid is presented. Salicylic acid and salicylanilide were used as coupling components. The dyes were analyzed by thin layer chromatography (TLC) and electronic spectra (VIS). Using a D65 illuminant and a (10o) standard observer the dyes were characterized by means of L,* a,* b* in the uniform color space (CIELAB). The chroma (C*), the hue angle (ho) and the color difference (DEab*) were calculated. Keywords: direct dyes,4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid, colour space (CIELAB)
