Influence of Phase-Transformation on Proprieties of Basaltic-Andesite-Ceramics
Abstract:
The basaltic-andesite volcanic rock presents some specific properties and can serve as raw material for a special performance ceramic matter in combination with other classical ceramic raw materials, with multiple utilization. The study of rock with X-ray diffraction presents as major crystal components: anortit, anorthoclase, diopside, augite. The microscopic analysis presents as phenocrysts: feldspar-plagioclase, pyroxene, olivine, opaque minerals, and a fundamental mass compound from feldspar-plagioclase, pyroxene, olivine, glass. In a ceramic composition basaltic andesite - porcelain-clay, the crystal phase transformations caused by increasing temperature by sintering, are in appearance of mullitic phase with a stronger intensity, which achieve improved mechanical properties for elaborated ceramic material. Keywords: basaltic-andesite, phase transformation, basaltic-andesite ceramics
