Synthesis and Characterization of Calix<4>arene with Different Donor Groups at the “NARROW” RIM


Abstract:

A new calix[4]arene derivative 4 has been synthesised by reaction of the parent calix[4]arene with E-2-Butenyl bromide (crotyl bromide) and bromoethyl acetate and K2CO3 or NaH as base in acetonitrile or THF-DMF mixture. Elemental analysis (EA), UV-VIS, FTIR and 1H- and 13C-NMR data support the presence of the mixed functions in the lower rim of 4. Keywords: calix[4]arene synthesis, functionalisation.
