Influence of the Sr, Ti, and B Content on the Structure and Morphology of AlSi7Mg0,3 Alloy

Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to present the experimental results by processing the AlSi7Mg0.3 molten alloy with AlSr2.9Ti0.6B0.4 quaternary master alloy. By using this new master alloy with high potential for grain refining we obtained a decrease in the average dimensions of the grains and a morphologic change of the silicon in the cast state of the alloy. The favorable microstructure of AlSi7Mg0.3 treated in liquid state with grain refiner master alloy is underlined by EDS analysis and scanning electronic microscopy.
