Studies concerning Fungal Residual Biomass Use for the Removal of Heavy Metals from the Residual Waters.

Abstract:

Fungal residual biomass from Aspergillus niger and Penicillium chrysogenum, were tested for the removal from monocomponent aqueous systems of some metallic ions (Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Mn). Processing procedures for the respective biomasses are proposed and influencing factors of the sorption process - pH, biomass concentration, initial metallic concentration, biomass particles size, metallic salt anion, were investigated. Equilibrium and kinetic specific aspects of the biosorption process are presented. Key words: biosorbtion, removal, heavy metal
