Characterization of the Solid Solution La(Co1-xFex)O3 (x=0.6)
Prepared via Sol-Gel Method

Abstract:

Nanometer-sized perovskite - type oxides LaCo0.4Fe0.6O3 particles were synthesized by the modified sol-gel method, from La(NO3)3, Fe(NO3)3 . 9H2O and Co(NO3)2 . 6H2O an ideal cation stoichiometry for LaCo0.4Fe0.6O3 perovskite. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was used as chelating agent. A light brown homogeneously mixed gel was prepared and transferred into a resin intermediate through charring. The precursors and derived oxide powders were characterized by XRD analysis for their crystal structure SEM and TEM for their texture. Diameter of nanoparticles is about 24 nm and conglomerate dimension is about 120 nm. SAED image confirms cubic structure of LaCo0.4Fe0.6O3, with lattice parameter a = 0.3885 nm Keywords: LaCo0.4Fe0.6O3, perovskite, sol-gel, EDTA, XRD, TEM
