Selectivity of 2.2.2. Cryptand in the Formation of Cryptates of a Series of Metalic Cations
Aplications in Potentiometric Tritimetry


Abstract:

This work represents a study on the selectivity of the hexaoxa diazabiciclohexacosan (2.2.2.) cryptand in the formation of the M(2.2.2.)n+ criptates with Mn+= UO22+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Cu2+ and Ag+. The selectivity constants (SAg/M) of these cryptates were determined by a competitive potentiometry method, by reporting to the Ag+/Ag(2.2.2.)+ reference couple. The SAg/M constants then allowed the calculation of the SM/M’ relative constants of selectivity for the cation pairs of the studied series. The selectivity constants of S Ag/M and S M/M’ type thus determined represented the base of the projection and elaboration of a series of selective analysis methods through potentiometric titrimetry for the UO22+ and Pb2+ cations, in the presence of Cd2+ and Cu2+.
