Study Concerning Phosphate Ions Removal Using the Method of Precipitation-Coagulation Process Modelling

Abstract:

Phosphorus compounds have a major importance to several industrial branches. From the process of phosphoric fertilizers obtaining waste waters which contain phosphate ions. Phosphates removal from this waste water becomes an environmental necessity, as these phosphates stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and planktons and contribute to the eutrophisation process in general. For high concentration of phospate ions, the physicochemical methods of phosphate ions removal are the most effective. The paper presents the studies regarding the phosphate ions removal process from waste waters resulted from the fertilizers industry using the method of precipitation-coagulation with iron salts and using as neutralizing agent calcium hydroxide. The optimum conditions of the process were established, conditions that allow the achievement of a maximum separation degree of the phosphate ions.Based on these considerations, the experimental data obtained in the process of phosphate ions removal from waste waters have been mathematically processing, and were formulate the equations for the dependencies of the phosphate separation degree and residual concentration function of the main parameters of the process. Keywords: waste water, eutrophisation, coagulation, phosphates
