Enhancing of Carbon Dioxide Absorption in Potasium Carbonate Solutions using
Chemical Reaction Promoters in Liquid Phase .
1. Evaluation of Physical Absorption Parameters


Abstract:

The removal of acid gases like CO2 or H2S from industrial gas streams is important either to meet certain process specifications or to keep emission limits. In the case of hot potassium carbonate process, in order to improve the carbon dioxide removal, a promoter is added to the solution. Within this work, an evaluation of the effect of some of the promoters mentioned in the literature has been carried out by successive experiments with absorption of CO2 into water, into carbonate solution and into promoted carbonate solution. This first part of our study presents the evaluation of the physical absorption parameters. Keywords: physical absorption, absorption with chemical reaction
