The Separation by Flotation of Pb(II) and Bi(II) from Aqueous Systems. Kinetic Aspects
Gabriela Carmen Oproiu, Ligia Stoica, Sanda Roman

Abstract:

The ions of some heavy metals like lead aand bismuth are important both from the point of view of them being need in different industrial branches, as well as of their toxicity for the living organisms. The oxidic compounds of these metals have special catalytic, electric and magnetic properties and this is why they are applicabile in top fields of industry and technology. Metals toxicity is closely connected to the chemical species under which they appear in effluent [1]. In the industrial effluents, the Pb(II) and / or Bi(III) concentrations must have very low values, less than 0.1 mg . L-1 and that’s why it is necessary to use some procedures which ensure an advanced purification accompanied by the obtaining of some products that constitute some possible precursors of mixed oxydes. Such a procedure is the ionic flotation. Previous researches aimed to establish the best separation parameters of Pb(II) and Bi(III) by ionic flotation using as a tensioactive substance (STA) a cationic collecter-laurylamine (LA). In order to have a full image of the separation by flotation of metal ions from aqueous systems, it is necessary to know the process evolution in time. In the paper, it is studied the kinetics of the flotation process in Pb(II)-LA and (Bi)III)-LA systems for the recuperation of these metals in different aqueous media in the from of oxidic precursors. The researches aimed to verify some kinetic models of the Ist order from literature established for the ore flotation and which were tested in the precipitates flotation. Keywords: kinetics, lead, bismuth, cationic collector, flotation
