The Use of Low Pressure Pneumatic Equipments for the Experimental Synthesis of Automatic Systems from Laboratory and Research Installations

Abstract:

Generally, the chemical processes are characterized through the existence of the mass accumulation phenomena, energy or substance, reason for which they are very slow. The experimental simulation of their dynamic behavior is very difficult to achieve precisely because of the extended time constants, which intervene in the transmition of signals with an informational content. The elaboration, by the staff to which the authors also belong, of a complete system of low pressure pneumatic equipments allows the simulation of the processes with the help of some elements of regulation characterized from the dynamic point of view by extended time constants (measured in minutes), reason for which their use in such cases is recommended.The simplicity of creating of modifying the experimental devices, the safety of their exploitation, the low consumption of energy, the low cost price are just a few of the advantages which recommend the use of low pressure pneumatic equipments in the automatic regulation of heat, flow, level, concentration, pH. Although the experimental studies are easy to achieve and the dynamic behavior can be directly followed, the present requirements have imposed the use of analogue-digital systems also in gathering and interpreting the results. The elaboration of specific programmes allowed the fast and precise processing of the data, as well as their representation in an adequate graphic form.
