the Characterization of Collagenic Hydrolised Compounds Doped with Calcium/magnesium Ions

Abstract:

Two types of collagenic hydrolysed compounds (HO2 and HO8) have been characterised, both were extracted from untreated cattle skin which had been kept within a neutral environment for 2 and 8 hours, respectively. A third type (HAP) is a collagenic hydrolysed compound obtained from fish in an acid environment. The characterisation was made using solutions, gels and films,, which have been produced by doping with different concentrations of calcium/magnesium/calcium and magnesium ions. pH, refarctive index, unfreezing temperatires and IR spectroscopic measurements have also been performed. The doping of the hydrolysed HO8 and HAP with either magnesium ions or a mixture of calcium and magnesium ions with 3-5% concentration was developed favourably. These hydrolysed compounds are proposed to be used for medical purposes. Keywords: collagenic hydrolysed compounds, calcium and magnesium ions, medical purposes
