Obtaining, Characterization and Using of Metallosilicate Beads for the Adsorption of Direct Red 95 Dye

Abstract:

Removal of direct dyes from the textile industry wastewaters is a great economic and environmental challenge. In this study, macrospheres with hierarchical porous structure were used as sorbentsf or removal of Direct Red 95dye. The synthesized materials were characterized by water sorption technique, FTIR spectroscopy, DRX and EDAX analyses. The effects of several parameters such as contact time, amount of adsorbent and pH on the adsorption of dye were investigated. The equilibrium data were evaluated using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevish isotherms.The values of correlation coefficients, R2 showed that the Langmuir model best fitted with the experimental data.The kinetic parameters were calculated using four kinetic models: the pseudo first order model, pseudo second order model, Elovich model and modified Freundlich kinetic model. The pseudo first order model was found to be the most suitable to describe the adsorption kinetics. Keywords: hierarhical porous beads, XRD, direct dye, adsorption isotherms, kinetic models
