The Synthesis and Characterization of Some New N1-<(Arylsulphonyl)Benzoyl>-N4-Arylthiosemicarbazides and of Their Cyclization Products


Abstract:

Some new thiosemicarbazides (6a-d) bearing arylsulphonylbenzoyl group at N1 and different aryl substituents at N4 were synthesized using classical procedures. Cyclization of (6a-d) in sodium hidroxide medium afforded the corresponding 1,2,4-triazole-3-thioles (7a-d). Cyclization of (6a-d) in sulfuric acid 98% medium afforded the corresponding 2-aminoaryl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (8a-d). All the new compounds were tested for their inhibitory effects on the Micobacterium Tuberculosis H37RV in vitro and fully characterized by IR-, UV-, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectroscopy.
