Comparative Study of Essential Oils of Lavender Obtained by
Hydrodistillation and Supercritical Fluid Extraction.


Abstract:

The supercritical CO2 extraction from lavender inflorescence is described by using a two-stage fractional separation. By comparison of the content in the oil extracted by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) with those obtained by hydrodistillation (HD), one notices the major difference between the two products resulted in the content of linalyl acetate. The composition of extracted oil, analyzed by GC-MS method, and the extraction yields by SFE and HD are also presented. Keywords: supercritical fluid extraction, essential oil, hydrodistillation
