Conferences of Contemporary Chemistry. Edition 6 - 2012 The sixth edition of the National Symposium with international participation 'CONFERENCES OF CONTEMPORARY CHEMISTRY' On 14th of May 2012 it was held the sixth edition of the symposium Conferences of Contemporary Chemistry organized by the Chemistry Library and Syscom 18 SRL, in association with the Romanian Academy and the Society of Chemistry in Romania. This symposium has a tradition of 13 years. The Chemistry Library and Syscom 18 annually award the best articles in two magazines published by the Chemistry Library - 'Journal of Chemistry' and 'Plastic Materials', the Symposium also including the Awards Ceremony. This year the Symposium has continued with the lecture 'Catalysis: an old field with new challenges' presented by Professor Michel Che at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, specialist in catalysis involving processes such as gas-solid, liquid-solid and solid-solid interface. Professor Michel Che is Doctor Honoris Causa of several universities, including the University of Bucharest and member of the Academy Europaea. The symposium was led by the Chairman of the editorial board of Journal of Chemistry, Dr. Peter Philip, director of the Center of Organic Chemistry 'Costin D. Nenitescu' of the Romanian Academy. This year as well Syscom 18, the main shareholder of the Chemistry Library, was the sponsor of the event, and that allowed the organizers to invite great personalities in the field of the Chemistry and also to carry the last six editions of the event within the excellent conditions provided by the 'Diplomate' Ballroom of the Athénée Palace Hilton.
